Today the Executive Committee of the European Football Union made decision on the next season in European club tournaments.

 

By August 3, National Associations must send a list of teams to participate in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

 

In order to achieve the necessary separation from the final part of the 2019/20 season and to avoid influencing the list of participants and the clubs potentially participating in both phases of the competition, the qualifying rounds of the two competitions will be held in one match (instead of away and home), with the only exception in the play -off, which will remain in the old formula (home - away). The draw will determine which club will play the match at its home stadium.

 

The new qualifier and group stage calendar 2020/21 is as follows:

 

Champions League:

 

First qualifying round: August 18/19

Second qualifying round: August 25/26

Third qualifying round: September 15/16

Playoffs: September 22/23 and September 29/30

Group stage: October 20/21 and 27/28, November 3/4 and 24/25, December 1/2 and 8/9

 

Europa League:

 

First qualifying round: August 27

Second qualifying round: September 17

Third qualifying round: September 24

Playoffs: October 1

Group stage: October 22 and 29, November 5 and 26, December 3 and 10.
