Yuriy Vernidub: "We will come out and will play, achieve results"
Head coach of FC Sheriff Yuriy Vernidub answered journalists' questions before the second leg of the Europa League playoff round against the Portuguese Braga:
- Tomorrow we will have a return game with the Braga club. We understand what the game will be like and what awaits us here. And we are ready for it. I have confidence in each of my players. We look forward to the game, and after it we can talk about something.
- Yury Vernidub, in the last match we played three defenders. How will surprise you tomorrow?
- I think it's better to wait for the game and see everything there. I won't talk about it today. We have our goals, Braga has theirs. Let's wait tomorrow.
- Coach of Braga said that the chances are 50 to 50. What do you say now?
- I myself said after the first game that the chances are 50/50. We are not afraid of Braga. We will go out and play, achieve a result that suits us.
- This morning, the Braga coach said he believes in his team and “Braga will go further. What do you think?
- We've heard those words before. Both in Zagreb and Serbia. Therefore, it is his right. We will go out and play. The result will show the game itself.
- Yury Vernidub, how has Braga game changed since you played against it? You are here again and will play against Braga again...
- Braga is quite a strong club. It always takes the highest places in the Portuguese Championship, fights for prizes. But if you take 4 years ago, in my opinion, that team was stronger. And now the team is strong, the focus is on young players. And there are also very few weaknesses in this team. Only on the field will we be able to see which of us is stronger.
- How do you feel about the Europa League? So many big teams have been knocked out of the Champions League and you may have to play with one of them ...
- I think that this year both the Champions League and the Europa League are very strong. This can only be seen by which teams remained in the Europa League. These are the teams that have been permanent members of the Champions League. The list starts with Barcelona. Therefore, this is a very strong tournament. No wonder it is second after the Champions League.
- There is no longer an away goal rule. Can this play into the hands of FC Sheriff?
- I do not think so. I always said that when there was an away goal advantage, it was to help teams that were weaker. Now those chances have evened out. Now it doesn't matter.
