- Yuri, congratulations on your victory. What did the team manage to do today and what did not?

- First, thanks for the congratulations. We're moving on. This is the first natural turf game after synthetics. There is still a lot of work to do. It is good that we have good conditions at our complex, we prepared for this game on a natural field. I think somewhere we were more prepared for these conditions. In this regard, the opponent got hooked in the second half. In the first half of the match, the players did not play quite correctly, but still managed to score. During the break, we made some amendments, the second half turned out to be more fun there. Plus we gave the opportunity to play to players who participate less in games.

 

- The last pass was missing in the first half. Probably, this was not enough for Sheriff in this game and in some of the past matches?

- Definitely - I agree with you, because I want more sharp passes from my players. Unfortunately, they do not always pass. Our requirement is to play more forward, not across the field and back. Backward play is wrong, we lose our initiative, plus the opponent has time to regroup in a ten-man defense. It's hard to crack a defense like this, but we have players with high speed and players with good passing. We need to use our strengths, and not look for any weaknesses.

 

- Maybe now this is an early question, but still - what is the team's task in European competition for this season? Surely the task is to break into the group stage of one of the tournaments?

- Definitely yes, and the management wants it and demands it from us. I myself have accepted this invitation, including because of this. As a coach, I am also interested in the team to overcome all stages of qualification for these tournaments. I think we can do it, we just need to prepare well. We will strengthen some positions, but point-by-point. We will make every effort to make it happen.
