Head coach of FC Sheriff Yuri Vernidub shared his opinion on the draw for the group stage of the Champions League:

 

- Yuri Vernidub, what are your general impressions of the group?

- A very good group, there is Real Madrid - a grand team in Spain - a club that is known to everyone, just like Barcelona. Inter, Italy - what to say about it? Also a top five club. And finally, Shakhtar Donetsk is the permanent Champion of Ukraine, the team constantly plays in the Champions League group. Only this year, they entered the group in two stages. The interesting composition of the group, nevertheless, will be interesting for the Sheriff team and for me personally. We will try to create competition for these clubs, I hope for my boys. The group is interesting - a lot of people must visit our games.

 

- Tell me honestly, did you want to get Shakhtar as your opponents, considering that you are from Ukraine?

- To be honest, I watched the draw with the general director, Vazha Tarkhnishvili, and I told him that there was some feeling that we would be in the group with Shakhtar. And so it happened.

 

- All kinds of surveys were held in Tiraspol - everyone wanted to see PSG here. Didn't you have such a desire?

- After arriving from Croatia, in Chisinau, I said that I would like to see such teams as Manchester City, PSG and Ajax. I didn't guess, but with Shakhtar I got it right.

 

- A normal, sporting question - what will FC Sheriff fight for in this group. Some say that Sheriff has already proved everything to everyone and made his dream come true. Others say why not compete for something more. What is your opinion on this matter?

- I would say that we are now in a fairy tale in terms of European games. I would like, and the whole team, for this fairy tale to continue as long as possible. At least we will try to do everything so that it would not be easy for these teams with us. And then we'll see what happens.
