Head coach of FC Sheriff Yuri Vernidub answered the questions of Armenian journalists before the match with FC Alashkert:

 

- The Championship of Moldova has recently started. In the first round FC Sheriff lost. What form is the team in and what is the level of readiness for tomorrow's match?

- First, I want to greet you. Glad to be in your beautiful country. As for the first game, it was a long time ago, 3 weeks ago, on the 1st. After that we won two games against Albanian Teuta. I am confident in my players, I know that they are ready and waiting for tomorrow.

 

- You studied the game Alashkert. Who can you single out in our team?

- We have carried out a thorough analysis of the Alashkert team. Frankly, I liked the team. A very good line of attack, in which Nbolo can be distinguished. I can also highlight Khurtsidze, who plays number 10. Nice right flank, Davidyan, fast player, Brazilian Santos, who plays on the left. The team is of a very good level, all the players are in their places. There are good players in the center of the field. This is the veteran of the team Grigoryan, Hovsepyan is the same. Quite good players who start all the attacks of the team. We got to know each other thoroughly. Our boys are also ready for this. We will wait for tomorrow and already on the field we will see who is stronger ...

 

- In the Ukrainian Zarya you worked with Gegham Gadimyan. There were also Armenian players in the opposing teams. What is your idea of ​​Armenian football?

- To begin with, when I was a footballer and played for Zenit, I played with your wonderful goalkeeper, Roman Berezovsky. I know him very well. Sargis Hovsepyan, who is also a very good footballer. If you take my coaching career, there was Kademyan, who played the last year in Belarus, for Neman. A good level player, he scored a lot. I think Armenian football is making big strides forward. Take the performance of the national team - it clearly improves. There are no weak teams in the Champions League since the first round. Everyone wants to win, everyone wants to move on and get into the group. I think there will be an interesting game tomorrow. Moreover, you now have a good coach who set a good game with ball control. The more interesting it will be for me and our entire team. All the more interesting. We came for only one thing - to take points and win.

 

- What is the task for FC Sheriff in this season of European competition?

- I think, like any soldier dreams of becoming a general, so I, like the whole team, dream of finally getting into the Champions League group. This is our maximum task. If it doesn't work out, then at least get into the group of either the Europa League or the Conference League. Therefore, the most important thing is to enter the field, show spectacular, attacking football and achieve results. The rest life will show.

 

- You are talking about the group stage of the Champions League. With Zorya you played twice in the Europa League group stage. Do you think this experience can help with this?

- It would help, but this is a completely different tournament. I will not hide the fact that this is my first time participating in this tournament. I would like to perform as best as possible. I hope my boys understand this and will give their maximum in every game.

 

- Does FC Sheriff have any losses, injuries, for example?

- Today all the boys are healthy and eager to fight.

 

- In football, there is an opinion that in a two-legged confrontation it is better to start with an away match

- I do not think so. What difference does it make where to start, at home or away. The most important thing is to start with a good result, or even better with a victory.
