The UEFA Executive Committee today decided to cancel a further UEFA Youth League in the 2020/21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the competition.

 

Initially, the executive committee last year decided to change the format of the tournament and postpone the start. However, since then, health care organizations have introduced new measures across Europe. Travel restrictions for participating teams create significant difficulties in organizing matches with their participation. Two clubs have already withdrawn from the tournament.

 

The UEFA Executive Committee stressed that it is impossible to postpone the start of the tournament any longer and that the health and safety of young players should be put first.

 

Unfortunately, the current circumstances do not allow the resumption of this international youth tournament. The UEFA Club Competitions Committee and the Association of European Clubs, which the Executive Committee consulted, supported the idea of ​​an exceptional cancellation of the UEFA Youth League this season.

 

Let's remind that according to the draw, in the first round of the tournament, our boys were to play with FC Kairat Almaty.
