Vyacheslav Posmac: Conceded goal didn’t make us down
FC Sheriff and Moldova National team’s defender Vyacheslav Posmac shared his feelings after a victory 2-1 over Lokomotiv Moskva in the fourth group stage for the Europa League.
Vyacheslav, could you share your feelings about the former game against FC Lokomotiv?
I congratulate all my teammates, coaching staff and fans with this historical victory. I’m grateful to everyone who keeps faith in us and supports with all their efforts. As for the game, the beginning wasn’t good: we were the first who conceded, but we managed to pull ourselves together, score a goal and go on the break in a good playing mood. In the second half, we played for the victory and the game was great thanks to our will to be on par with the opponent. If to count the number of goal opportunities, we were stronger than our rivals, hence the result.
Did weather influence the play of both teams?
No, the weather was okay for football, but many thought it would be cold and could negatively affect the quality of performance.
The fact that we were first to concede, did it influence the team’s commitment?
No, I don’t think so. In the second leg, we could have the lead right in the beginning of the first half. We don’t need to concede to receive an impulse to win. It’s not important in football whether you are the first to concede or to score. The key thing is to keep on doing your utmost by any score till the final whistle is blown.
Now there is much talking around about FC Sheriff’s victory and the reasons of Loko’s defeat. What in fact helped to win?
You’ve seen it with your own eyes. We pushed an offensive play and it gave its results. The conceded goal didn’t make us down and it was a key moment for getting the victory. At present, we shall keep on training hard for the next not less important battles. Still everything is dimmed in our group, and perhaps the fifth stage will mark the top contenders for leaving the group.
