Vitalie Mostovoi: Our main goal is to prepare players for the first team
FC Sheriff U-16 head coach Vitalie Mostovoi shared his view with the Club's journalist on the winning the Championship, the 2018 UEFA development tournament and his trainees playing for the Moldova national team:

Vitalie Vladislavovich, congratulations on the winning the Championship! Tell us about the tournament in generall and your impressions.
Thank you so much. Speaking about the tournament, the level is getting lower because the number of the teams is reducing. Truthfully speaking, only one team is a good match for us whereas we would like to face more stronger teams as this makes us progress. In the second part of the Championship, we gained necessary points and in the last game against Buiucani it was important for us just not to lose. The boys were motivated to win, the game came well even though it ended in a draw. It was enough to get golden medals.

For four years you have been on the top of the Championship. What helps to keep this Champions stability?
First of all, this is a result of good work. In addition, many guys are called up for the Moldova national team which is an important factor in each player's development. It is gaining playing international experience. Five-eight of our players are called up to the national team all the time. I also will note a big desire and motivation of our trainees. These factors let us to be the first in our Championship.

According to UEFA, the age of 16 is the starting point for adult football. Recently, under the auspices of UEFA, a Development tournament has been held between Under-16 national teams, including Moldova, where our guys also took part. What do you think about this tournament and participation of our players?
The age of 16 is the age of transition; in many countries it's time of passport issuing. This age is the age of personality development which influence all their daily activities. The think like adults but their actoins are not always like that. However, they try to assert themselves. That's why it makes sense to start developing in these players features needed to enter the adult football.

As you said, five to eight of our players are called up to the national team. In the former Development tournament, only goalkeeper Alexei Samoilenko participated. What is the reason?
It is connected with the preparation of the national team. In February, they had a two-week trial aimed to improve their physical conditions. In our turn, we started trainings right after winter vacations. In the fall part of the Championship, the guys often skipped the school and we decided not to relieve them for the national team. There is no harm as they will also play in the international tournaments.

You mean, it was not to interrupt the school education of the guys?
Yes, sure. The main task is to prepare players for the first team, whereas we shall always remember that football career can be short and full of unpredictable things. Among them are injuries inconsistent with big football. Different things may happen, that's why we pay attention not only to the sports development but also to general education. Training process shall not be an obstacle to the receiving of new knowledge of the youngsters.

Can you single out some players that can provide competition to the players of the first team?
Of course, it would be great if our boys have a chance to play in the first team and show their strengths. Now it's difficult to name someone as they need to go through all the development stages. Many things will depend on the level of the Championship. Even if the Reserve Championship is of high standard for the youth, the Under-17 and U-19 need to be improved in the competing level of the clubs. Playing in weak youth leagues, it is difficult for  a player to adopt to the football level of the Reserve Championship and National League.
