Moldova National youth team’s forward and FC Sheriff’s player Vitalie Damaşcan speaks about how he emerged from his barren spell, standing position in National Division and upcoming game in the Round 16 of the Orange Moldova Cup:
Vitalie, tell us, the victory over FC Dinamo-Auto was it easy?
We approached this game in a certain state. We knew how FC Milsami had played and we needed to overplay our opponents and to stretch the lead. Moreover, we still remember the game of the previous season when FC Dinamo-Auto took two important points from us. Luckily, we could score an early goal. After that the team relaxed a bit and could have paid for it. In the second half we scored again and the game became far easier than in the first one.
Last time you scored in the championship was on 10 September in the game against FC Speranța. This time you had another brace again. What was the reason of your barren spell?
It’s difficult to keep in playing tone all the time. There are downs and ups. It was important to break those ‘barren spells’ as you called it. I’m glad I could score two goals in the former game and help the team to win.
What team do you want to score most at their goal in the Cup and the Europa League?
In the Cup it’s crucial to win as many times as possible and to be the first. As for Euro cups I dream of shooting a ball into every of the three teams’ net in our Group F. If I manage to do that I’ll be so much happy about it.
After the win over FC Dinamo-Auto, our team stretched the lead to seven points from the closest pursuers. What can you say about the present standings position?
We shall never let up. We need to confidently get the points not looking at the other match results. As for the games left, we will prepare seriously against every team and prove that we are the best in the championship.
On Wednesday, we are ahead of the first leg in the Round 16 of the Orange Moldova Cup. The rival is tough and at the moment takes the leads in Division A. What can you say about Alexander Novikov’s guys?
I watch the games in Division A. FC Victoria deserves their first place, they perform well. We are getting ready for this match and know that it won’t be easy. Our rival will be in a good shape and we must do our best in the next game.
