FC Sheriff head coach Viktor Mikhailov on the victory against FC Petrocub (3–2):
— We played against the league leader today. Petrocub is last season’s champion. We were mentally prepared. Nevertheless, we rotated the lineup in a few positions because it was a tough away game, and we also rested some players for the next round of the Europa League. It was very important to win today, but now we need to calm down a bit and prepare for the next game.
— With the score at 3–0, it seemed like everything was heading toward a victory—an easy victory for “Sheriff.” With the score at 3–0 in the first half, you had plenty of chances to score, and you finally did so at the end. Didn’t that 3–0 lead make you relax?
— You’re right, yes, indeed. We scored three goals, and some players thought the game was already decided. But that never happens in soccer—you have to play until the very end, until the last second—and that’s why we paid the price. But, thank God, we held on and won.
