VeaceslavRusnac: “We respect our rival but we are not afraid of him”
Right before Europa League match against “Tottenham” the FC “Sheriff” acting head coach Veaceslav Rusnacshared his expectations at the pre-match press conference:
The team, the supporters – we are all waiting for this match. Tomorrow we are having a game with a team which takes one of the leading places in one of the world’s strongest championships. All players of “Tottenham” are of European level and it is normal that they are the favorites not only in our group but in the tournament as well. Nevertheless, we will do our best tomorrow. We have been seriously preparing. It is a great opportunity for each of our players to show themselves with such a strong rival. I think the guys will do everything to achieve a positive result. We respect the rival but we are not afraid of him.
What does the Football Club “Sheriff” mean for the local championship?
The results of the last years speak for us. Our club became a champion more often than any other club in the country and the club is now at the leading positions in the championship. At this moment we are the main club in Moldova. Maybe it is not too modest to say it but this is true.
“Tottenham” is a favourite in tomorrow’s game. But how can “Sheriff” achieve a positive result in your opinion?
In my opinion each team has its weak sides. Game discipline on the field is important to us. Then we can use our trump cards.
What do you know about Townsend?
For now he is a rising star of the European football. He is a talented football player who performs well in Premier League of England. It will be difficult for us but we will do our best.
Do you think two matches in a row with “Tottenham” will be the key ones in the group?
I think we played not very well in the first two Europa League games. If we want to go further we must fight with “Tottenham” for our points.
How is the preparation for the game going?
I think those things that we missed in the preparation will be overcome by a great desire.
Who will not be able to help the team besides Melli?
Jhulliam was injured. Now he is training in the general group. We will look at his condition but besides Melli everyone is ready to play.
Are the members of the team thrilled in a psychological way or rather having a desire to show themselves not depending on the rival?
The guys should be confident on the field. Only a silly one will not worry. It is not fear but it is the sense of responsibility. Before some matches they should be turned on but before tomorrow’s game they should calm down.
Many supporters think that the arrival of “Tottenham” is the most important event in the history of the club. What does tomorrow’s match mean to you?
For me as a coach this game will be the most interesting in my career as a coach which is not a very long one. It is very interesting to get ready for “Tottenham”, it is even easier.
