Veaceslav Rusnac’s interview
FC Sheriff head coach Veaceslav Rusnac gave an interview to the press service of the club and answered the questions of the supporters who asked them in FC Sheriff group in social networks.
Veaceslav Petrovich, how is the atmosphere in the team now? Is there a gung-ho attitude to the games with weaker opponents in the championship?
Hello, I am glad to talk to the supporters. Their opinion is important to us. As for the question, we talk with the guys and ask them to have maximum of concentration since the first minutes. In previous games, for example, with FC Academia and FC Olimpia, the team achieved the result thanks to serious approach and concentration in the first 15 minutes. I hope we don’t have such a problem. The guys understand they should have a serious approach to every match.
Can we say that the intrigue of the championship is over, or is it early to talk about it?
I think it is early to talk about it. We have games with the teams from the upper part of the standings soon. These games will be useful and interesting for us.
Why was the end of the match against FC Veris not an easy one, in your opinion?
It was a real match of the Cup. There are good players in the opponent’s team composition. The peculiarity of the game with FC Veris is that they mostly play a long ball creating combat in each part of the field. It is especially effective in the weather we had that day. By the middle of the half we took the game under control, by the score 1:0 we had to score. Unfortunately, one minute of lost concentration when the ball was out of play cause a conceded goal. However, the character of the guys makes me glad because thanks to it we could win.
When the team scored the second goal the whole substitutes’ bench together with the players on the field were showing happiness. Does it say that the team is very close?
One of our goals was to make the team be close with each other. I think we made it. The guys support each other. They have a common goal – victory in the championship, in the Cup and, of course, getting into Champions League group stage.
It turned out that you guessed with the substitution of Potiguar. How difficult is it for a coach to make substitutions in such games?
I don’t agree with the word “guessed”. This substitution was planned. We see players every day, analyze the opponent and then decide how to play. The fact that Potiguar took the field and scored was mostly his work but a great deal of work before him was made by Isa who made defenders run a lot and make mistakes. In this situation we could use the positive sides of Potiguar.
There are six rounds left till the end of the championship. FC Sheriff has most difficult games ahead. Do you think it is a plus for the team?
Of course, it is a plus. The more of such games we have, like FC Veris for example, the more useful it will be both for us and for the opponent. Difficult games make us more confident and strong to play in European Cups.
The questions asked by the supporters:
We know that Serghei Pashenco is trained in the first team. How possible is it that he will be able to help the team in the summer?
Serghei Pashenco is a good person and a good goalkeeper who has a professional attitude to his duties. Despite the fact that he does not have the right to play so far, he trains a lot. As for applying him, there are some legal issues on the part of Iran and it makes the transfer process go slow.
Will there be any global strengthening in the summer? Will the team surprise us with a “transfer bomb” in our scale?
A player needs some time, especially when he came from far away. A bright example is Potiguar and Ernandes who acted not very successfully at first. Now they have adapted, got into shape and show football that we are expecting from them. The team needs strengthening so we are going to have transfers. We will have to create competition in every line to be stronger.
And a question which excites everyone. Will we see FC Sheriff in Champions League group stage?
It is our dream. We are working in that direction and trying to do everything possible and impossible. Every worker and player of our club dreams about it.
Will the team continue showing beautiful football? Will FC Sheriff be able to build the defense in the right way in a match with a serious opponent?
I think we will. The style we are trying to teach our players allows both good attack and good defense. Last year we had good games in terms of defense organization. For example, in the games with FC Tottenham a scheme of the game was seen, despite not getting points. If we had more luck, we could achieve a positive result.
