Valentin Birdan: “The most important is that I could help the team”
FC “Sheriff” midfielder 18-year-old Valentin Birdan talked to the official site of the club after the match with FC “Dinamo-Auto” in which he scored his first official goal for the first team.
Valentin, tell your supporters how you got to “Sheriff” Academy, overcame all preparation processes and got to the first team?
I liked football since childhood and I decided to do it on a professional level. At first we trained at Tiraspol state stadium and then some guys were taken to “Sheriff” Academy. We participated in children’s and junior championships of Moldova and won a few times. I was invited to “Sheriff-2” a few years ago. Thanks to hard trainings and great desire I got into the first team.
What was the most difficult thing in your starting career as a football player?
It was adaptation to adult football.
Yesterday you scored your first goal for the first team. What feelings did you have after seeing the ball in the goal?
I tried hard for that. After seeing the ball in the goal I was absolutely happy. The most important thing is that I was able to help the team.
Despite your low height you are brave to fight for the ball. Aren’t you afraid to be injured by players who physically stronger?
When a player goes to fight and is afraid, he will definitely be injured. You should be confident in yourself and put a task to yourself to win every combat you can.
How do young guys feel in the team with already established football players?
We feel comfortably. We have a friendly atmosphere in the team, we talk to everyone and help each other. It is our family.
What have you learnt in the first team?
I am still learning every day. It is psychology, tactical and technical skills. Being close to such players you cannot stop making progress.
Do you have a football dream?
I would like to be the main player in the first team and help the club to achieve even more great results. For today it is the most important for me.
What would you say to the supporters before the ending part of the championship?
I want them to come to the stadium and make us happy with their presence. And we will try not to let them down.
