Today there was a semi-final of Moldavian cup, in which Sheriff played an away game against Tiraspol. Tiraspol managed to score a quick goal - Popovic was able to score after a good pass from Karaneychev - he entered the penalty area and sent the ball into the far corner of the goal. Sheriff overcame their opponents in creating goal-scoring opportunities. In one of the episodes Hausi could hardly clear the ball from the penalty area, and in another episode Pesic had a good chance after a pass from Luvannor, however Tiraspol goalkeeper played great. In the second half of the first period Pascenco created two dangerous episodes and in both of them Gheorghiev played well - first he made a good save from very close distance and then cleared the ball that turned out to be outside of the penalty area after the contact with the crossbar.
In the middle of the second half Sheriff managed to score an equaliser - after skillful delivery of the ball by Stanojevic Balima was there to send the ball into the net with a great header. Despite abundance of the goal-scoring opportunities the teams failed to score more goals within the main time and the outcome had to be decided in two extra periods, the first of which became decisive when after a cross from the corner kick Hausi scored with a header. Sheriff created many more chances but still failed to score and thus was eliminated from the Moldavian Cup this season, having lost to Tiraspol with the score 2-1.
