SK Slovan – FC Sheriff
First leg match of the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round between SK Slovan and FC Sheriff was played in Bratislava at Pasienki stadium. The hosts proved their win as illogical one.

Dominating during the most part of the game FC Sheriff conceded a goal at the end of the match.

While the first 20 minutes real chances were missed by Ismail Isa and Fred Benson. Both players came one to one with the goalkeeper. In the first episode the defenders blocked the shot at the empty goal and in the episode with Fred Benson the ball came close to the post. SK Slovan responded when Pavel Fort made a shot at the goal but Matias Degra blocked it. Soumah took Fort to the shooting position but again Degra won the fight. On 33rd minute there was the most dangerous moment at FC Sheriff goal. Degra made a mistake coming one to one but Erik Cikos did not expect that and could not score. Five minutes before the end of the half FC Sheriff was awarded a penalty after Elkin Blanco’s hand touch of the ball. Igor Zofcak converted the penalty leaving no chances to our goalkeeper. Right after that Thiago Galvao could score a leveler but he missed.

The first 15 minutes of the second half were started carefully. Radu Ginsar who came off the substitutes’ bench was hit by Richard Lasik who in his turn was double booked and sent off the field. Kadu was to convert a penalty but Dusan Pernis made a save. Fred Benson got the ball on the goal line but made a shot right at the goalkeeper. Then on 74th minute Ricardinho turned home assisted by Ginsar. The “yellow-blacks” could take the lead but in spite that they conceded an unnecessary goal. After a pass from the center of the field Joazinho and Degra misunderstood each other and Karol Meszaros sent the ball in an empty goal.

Second leg match will take place on August 6 at the Main Arena of Sports Complex Sheriff. The match starts at 20:00.
