Shota Makharadze: “We had mistakes but played decently”
FC Sheriff-98 head coach Shota Makharadze commented on the result of the match with FK Jagodina.
- We make mistakes at the lowest level. But I did have a great pleasure from watching my team’s play. We had mistakes but we played decently. There are two matches left, we will play and then think who to count on. These games show everything.
It seemed that your team mostly played long balls…
I don’t agree that we played thanks to long balls. We tried to play football but not hit the ball forward. I don’t support this kind of play. There are combinations when you need to play highball. You can go nowhere without it. But you definitely need to vary your play on the pitch. Unfortunately, we lacked mastership at some point. We help in tactical way but when you are 17 years old you need to be able to pass with inner side of your foot. And conversion… we have problems with completion.
What can you say about the tournament?
The tournament is a very serious one. Everything is organized on a top level. I want to say thank you to everyone who works at this tournament. I think it is a celebration. As for the playing part of the tournament, it is great experience for all teams, especially for ours. The more often we take part in such tournaments, the better it is.
