“Sheriff” – “Tromsø” December 12, 2013
The game between “Sheriff” and “Tromsø” finished UEFA Europa League group stage in Tiraspol.
This match did not complete the tasks of the tournament. Nevertheless, both teams were up to winning. “Sheriff” was more active and was awarded for that in the first minutes. Benjamin Balima sent a good pass to the penalty area. Luvannor Henrique extended the ball to Kadu who shot at the goal of Norwegians from the close distance. On 15th minute Ismail Isa could double the scoring but Benny Lekström made a good save. By the middle of the half “Tromsø” were more active in the attack. Ruben Kristiansen made a long-range shot in one of the episodes but Tomic cleared the ball after which it hit the crossbar. Zdeněk Ondrášek who scored to “Sheriff” in the first game shot at the far corner but Tomic made another good save. The home team could organize a good counter attack. Balima got the ball at the flank and sent a great pass to Ismail Isa who finished it with a header – 2:0! At the end of the half Luvannor could have scored the third ball but it got to the net on the outside.
The second half started not so actively as the first one. Only on 60th minute “Tromsø” could create a dangerous moment. However Vjekoslav Tomic played safely after Сausevic’s quick shot. It should be noted that it was the last save by Tomic in this match since in a minute he was replaced by Dmitri Stajila. The Norwegians then created another dangerous moment. Espejord got the ball at the corner of the penalty area and shot at the far corner but he failed to reach the goal. On 78th minute Luvannor tried to score but again the ball got on the outer side of the net. In two minutes it was seen that Luvannor did not reach a few cm to turn home. Our team won the match and worthily finished their performance in Europa League.
Having six points after six matches in Europa League group stage FC “Sheriff” set their record. With these points the “yellow-blacks” took the third place in the group giving way to “Anji”. So the European season is over for Tiraspol. We are grateful to our team for beautiful matches and we wish good luck in the next season!
