“Sheriff” – “Anji” September 19, 2013
The match of the UEFA Europa League group stage took place on the Main Arena of the Sports Complex “Sheriff” in terms of the first match day of the group K. “Sheriff” hosted “Anji” from Makhachkala.
Almost all stands were full of supporters and even the rain which started in the course of the game did not scare the audience who supported our team till the last minute.
The game started in a very careful way. The first dangerous moment was created by the football players of “Anji” when Nikita Burmistrov shot but Vjekoslav Tomic took the ball. Burmistrov was one of the most active attacking players of “Anji”. In the middle of the half the midfielder of “Anji” shot a penalty kick however Tomic did a good job too who saved his team. On the 26nd minute Andrey Gusyn had to make a forced substitution. The Moldavian Alexandru Epureanu could not continue the game. Andrey Gusyn also made a substitution for Lacina Traore who got injured in his shoulder. “Sheriff” played counterattacks one of which could end in a goal when Ricardinho outplayed five players of “Anji” and shot. Mikhail Kerzhakov jumped to take the ball. Kadu made a good kick from the distance but the Brazilian did not make it into the gate.
In the beginning of the second half Burmistrov attacked the gate again but Tomic made a save. After this moment “Sheriff” balanced the game and made “Anji” act on the defensive. “Sheriff” took set pieces one by one. Luvannor Henrique and Kadu threatened the gate of Mikhail Kerzhakov. At the very end of the match “Sheriff” was close to win. “Sheriff” dominated during the last minutes however our team did not succeed in winning.
So the game ended in a draw 0:0. It means that “Sheriff” and “Anji” get their first points in the group. At the same time “Tottenham” played with “Tromsø” from Norway. Confident win of the Englishmen by the score 3:0 le them lead the standings of the group K. “Sheriff” and “Anji” share the second line both having one point.
“Sheriff” will play the next Europa League match in Norway. On October 3, 2013, “Sheriff” will play with “Tromsø” on Alfheim Stadion.
