Roberto Bordin: We achieved it together
FC Sheriff head coach Roberto Bordin talks on the results of the Moldovan Championship of the transitional season 2017:
Good afternoon. We have won this tournament where we showed very good performance. And that’s the most important now. I want to thank all the players who helped us to achieve this goal and all the technical staff who helped me. Also, a special thanks to the President and Director of the club and all the staff who supported us. We achieved it together. Now we need to prepare carefully for the last game which will take place in Copenhagen. It’s the decider of the year. I hope everything will come alright.
You managed to make a unique achievement: you won two championships. What the transitional tournament was like for you?
I already talked about it before. I think the Championship was very difficult. First, the tournament was too short and mistakes were not an option. There were only a few games and any drop in points could affect the team’s future. Second, we started the Championship not very good. Fortunately, we could bounce back in head-to-head encounters. We beat Milsami at home and every matchday we thought how to keep the lead, to avoid mistakes and finish with a victory. The championship wasn’t typical but at the end everything ended like we wished to.
There is a big period of time till the next match. How do you plan to map out this time?
Since tomorrow the team will have several days of rest. The guys need to recover psychologically, in the first place. The Championship was short but we played a double-game and there were a lot of matches. The Championship concluded at the end of the month then an intensive training followed up. For the last eight days, we have played three important games with Milsami, Zlin and today. The lads need to take rest. They will have just a couple of days to rest and then there will be enough time to get ready for the next game.
