Roberto Bordin: I want to thank the guys for the game
FC Sheriff head coach Roberto Bordin speaks in front of the media after the win 1-0 over Zlin on the Europa League matchday 5:
Well, this game was really hard. We faced the team which is very well-prepared in the physical sense. The fact we managed to score in the opening minutes of the first half helped us a lot. Unfortunately, we couldn’t convert other chances which could be fruitful. In the second half, the opponents were attacking a lot. It wasn’t easy for us, but our goalkeeper saved us several times. Generally, I want to thank the team for the game. We earned those important three points.
We’ve seen two absolutely different half times…
We scored an early goal and tried to keep the game balanced and to keep the score. In the second half, the opponents began attacking as they had nothing to lose but they were risking a lot as Badibanga had opportunities to shoot a second goal. By the end of the game, we got tired a bit and tried to save our result.
An early shot is dangerous for both sides - the one that scores and the other that concedes as the question arises what to do next and what tactics to follow. But as to what was said above seems you’ve been ready for the situation with an early opening, right?
We didn’t think how to shoot early and to keep this score. We thought about how to gain 3 points as the victory was of a big importance for us. Of course, later we tried to control the game. We understood that the games in Czech Republic and Tiraspol wouldn’t be the same and so it was. Yes, we can prepare to the game for several days or a week, but sometimes in the course of the match can happen things that will change everything.
Are you satisfied with Ziguy Badibanga’s play?
I’m quite satisfied. He was trying all the time to pull back the attackers from own goal. There were some technical mistakes but I don’t focus on them as besides his creating work he was of significant support in defense.
This Sunday the final of the Moldovan Championship is coming up. Are there any concerns the team may lose its playing tempo two weeks before the next match in the Europa League?
No. The key thing now is to come into mental shape too. It’s of principal importance. Then there will be trainings to prepare for the next encounter.
