Rasheed Akanbi: "This prize means a lot to me"
The press office of FC Sheriff, together with colleagues from the Football Federation of Moldova, has prepared a series of interviews with the winners of 2022, who represent FC Sheriff. Yesterday, an interview with the best goalkeeper of the past year, Dumitru Celeadnic, appeared on the Federation's website. Today we present the Best Forward, Rasheed Akanbi.
- You were recognized as the Best Forward of 2022 in the Championship of Moldova. What does this mean to you?
- It means a lot to me, because we have a lot of good forwards in the league, again, it means a lot to me. All praise to the Almighty, my coaches, fans and people who support us.
- Do your relatives and football fans from Nigeria know about your successes in Moldova, do they follow the performance of FC Sheriff in European cups?
- Yes, my family, friends and my people in Nigeria and abroad are always watching me and they all watch Sheriff matches.
- After the first half of the season in the Championship of Moldova, you have scored 6 goals in 12 matches. How do you rate this result?
- Given that we played in parallel in the Europa League, the result is not bad. But I think I could have scored more. A forward should always aim to score, that's my job.
- Among African football players, there are different rituals associated with shamans. Do you use them?
- I don't have shamans, but I strongly believe in Almighty God and I believe in myself and thanks to the coaches who teach me.
- Did you set a goal to become the top scorer of the tournament?
- Yes, I set a goal to become the top scorer. I am boldly moving towards this achievement.
- FC Sheriff is a club that gave a chance to many players to raise their game level and move to a stronger Championship. In which country would you like to try your hand?
- I want to play in England or Spain because I used to play in both countries as an academy player, but I want to play there as a professional player and I will because I believe in God and in myself.
