Mx Veloso: "Serious changes are coming, but I think these are good changes"
The newcomer of FC Sheriff Max Veloso shared in the first interview as a player of our club about himself, his character, manner of playing and about adaptation in a new team for him.
- Max, welcome to our club. You have become part of the yellow-black family. What is it like?
- Thanks. Good opportunity to prove myself. The club showed great interest in me, and this will be a good opportunity to continue my career. There are very good conditions here, so I think that FC Sheriff is a good choice.
- You played only in Switzerland. Now you will play in our country. What can you say about the change of scenery?
- When you leave your native country you have special feelings. I played in many clubs in Switzerland. Now an important and exciting moment has come - to try myself at another country, a new team. Hope to gain new experience. Serious changes are coming, but I think these are good changes.
- Your priorities in modern football - what are they?
- I like the tactics and style of Barcelona and Manchester City. Impressed when the game is built in attack, starting with the goalkeeper and defenders. It is important to act on the field quickly and efficiently. I love a beautiful game and try to make it that way.
- What number would you like to perform under?
- Do not know yet. Need to check which are available. I like number 8. If it is not free, I will consider other options. For me, this is not as important as for other players.
- Does your game depend on inspiration or do you just go out on the field and do your job?
-I think both options work for me. When I was younger, the game depended on inspiration - then I didn’t really think about any statistics, actions on the field. Now I am a more responsible player, approach the game, my actions more consciously. At the same time, I feel free on the field, give free rein to inspiration and try to use my ideas in the game.
- Are you more Portuguese or Swiss?
- Hard to tell. My parents are from Portugal, then they moved to Switzerland. I was born and raised in Switzerland, so I have two homelands. More Swiss in way of thinking and in action. As for the character, it is certainly Portuguese. If I talk about my features, sometimes I can get angry, and after a minute the anger goes away and everything is fine again. I often speak loud, which is not typical for the Swiss.
- What do you think about adaptation in the new team?
- I think there will be no problems with this. Yes, the cultural characteristics are different. But I know this well. I came across many foreigners in Switzerland, at the university. Therefore, I can use the methods of communication that are familiar to me in order to adapt myself. Of course, I am pleased to get acquainted with a new type of thinking, with a new culture. The language barrier may be a problem, but as I understand it, many speak English here. I also use French and Portuguese to communicate with teammates. I will try to learn Russian in order to adapt to a new country.
