The final match of the Moldova Football Cup will take place today, where FC Sheriff and FC Sfintul Gheorghe will meet. It's time to remember how the teams got to the final match.

 

Winner of 10 Cups FC Sheriff began its journey at the stage of 1/8 finals. On October 28, 2020, at the SC Sheriff Small Arena, Iskra from Rybnita opened the score in the first half. Our boys quickly came to their senses and responded with balls of Evgeny Gliga and Keston Julien.

 

In the quarterfinals FC Sheriff beat Milsami 4: 1. The match was played in Tiraspol on April 20, 2021. The goals were scored by Frank Castaneda - 3 and Dimitrios Kolovos. In the semifinals, the wards of Yuriy Vernidub defeated Petrocub with a score of 3: 1. Frank Castaneda, Adama Traore, Dimitrios Kolovos scored.

 

Sfintul Gheorghe beat Sporting Trestien in the 1/8 finals with a score of 4: 0 (Alexander Suvorov, Mikhil Gechev - 2 and Vitaly Plamadeala). In the quarterfinals at the synthetic pitch of the Zimbru stadium, the wards of Serghei Cebotari beat Speranta Nisporeni 5: 1 in overtime. Goals were scored by Artur Krachun, Roman Volkov, Maxim Foksha and Alexander Suvorov 2. And in the semifinals in Ternovka, Sfintul Gheorghe beat Dinamo-Auto 2: 1 in overtime. The goals were scored by Nikolay Solodovnikov and Viktor Styne.

 

Two years ago, the teams met in the Moldova Cup final. In the 2018/19 season FC Sheriff won 1-0 in extra time thanks to the goal of Brazilian Leandro Ribeiro in the 92nd minute.
