Head coach of FC “Sheriff”, Mislav Karoglan, about the starting match of the second part of the Championship in the Super League:
- What can you say about the game?
- We played very well in the first half, there was a good rhythm, there were many chances or one chance for a goal, many good combinations of players. We could easily have scored 3-4 goals. In the second half I felt we lost the rhythm. Was not satisfied with many things. At the end we scored two more goals. Overall, I think it was a decent performance. We have a lot of places to improve our game. At the same time, you have to realize that at this stage of the tournament, every game is difficult. We need to accept that and keep working. Thank God we won today. Next we will prepare for the match with Zimbru.
- Were there any differences in the training process compared to the way you prepared for the match against Barça?
- My main task is to coach. I try to be demanding in training. There are more difficulties in the training process than in games. We have prepared, we saw the last match of Spartanii and it means that they have areas through which we can move towards the goal. In the first half it was obvious. In the second half we lost our aggressiveness, while the opponent, on the contrary, added in this component. Rather, it was due to the loss of players who returned after injuries. I did not want to force them, they need to gain strength. As a result, we won. I think, in general, we looked good. But, as a coach, I realize that we can do some things better.
- The starting lineup has changed, what criteria influence the selection of the starting 11 players?
- We have 20 players. I always rotate them depending on the basics and depending on the challenges, but the starting 11 is definitely the best of the week. It's a little bit about who plays where depending on the opponent and what difference we lead by. There are several options that we take into account in preparation for the match.
