Miroslav Bojko: “I am pleased working with the team”
FC Sheriff head coach assistant – Croatian specialist Miroslav Bojko – gave an interview for the official site of the club and talked about his career, working with Zoran Zekic and about everyday learning.
Miroslav, tell supporters about yourself, your career as a player and as a coach…
I played professional football for fifteen years. During that time I played in the Frist league of Croatia for HNK Cibalia, and also for different Bosnian clubs. As a coach I worked in youth teams of HNK Cibalia, then I was head coach’s assistant of then head coach of this club. At that time we played in the first league. After work in HNK Cibalia my Achilles tendon was injured, so I could not work for eight months. Then I was offered to work in FC Sheriff. So here I am.
What was the period for you like, being the head coach of Cibalia?
The leap from U-19 team coach to first team head coach was important for me. Of course, it was a big step in my career as a coach.
How did you get proposal to work in FC Sheriff? Have you met Zoran Zekic before?
We previously played with Zoran in one team. We have known each other for a long time, we even worked together. When Zoran became FC Sheriff head coach, he called me and proposed to work with him. FC Sheriff is a big club which constantly plays in the European cups. I got interested to test myself in such a serious team.
Do you like working in FC Sheriff?
If I did not, then I would not work here. Every day I get pleasure from working with the team. Yes, at first I had some difficulties, mainly connected with communication but now everything is ok.
Head coach assistant is his right hand. Do you feel football in the same way as Zoran Zekic feels it? In other words, are your views to football similar?
When I worked together with Zoran, we exchanged our views to football. It is important that the views of the head coach and his assistants were similar. In terms of that, everything is ok.
What did you learn obtaining coaching PRO license?
In order to get PRO UEFA License, you should at first obtain C, B and A Livenses. During my studies I set my approach and my understanding of coaching activity. But my learning has not stopped after completion of that course. I learn something every day and I will do that till my coaching career ends.
You often join the team during training sessions. Do you still want to play football?
Every football person has this desire. I join the guys to help them or just play for pleasure. It is absolutely normal.
