Mateo Muzek: "I want to get quickly to the team clip"
The first glimpse of FC Sheriff Croatian defender Mateo Muzek:
- Mateo, tell me why you chose Sheriff to continue your playing career?
- Sheriff is a multiple champion of Moldova and performs every year in the Champions League and Europa League. This is a strong club for which I want to play. I want to get quickly to the team clip and play as many games as possible. I understand that there is competition here. But this is the only way to get better.
- What do you know about our team?
- I used to watch the Champions League games when Sheriff opposed Dinamo Zagreb. Many compatriots have played here and continue to do so now. I know, for example, Antun Palic - our fathers played football together, so I know him very well. Matej Palčić is also known to me from the Slovenian Championship, when I played for FC Rudar Velenje. The head coach is also known to me - I know that he did a good job at Osijek FC. They achieved decent results in European competitions and in the Championship of Croatia.
- Where did you learn to speak Russian so well?
- In Kazakhstan, I played for Shakhter Karagandy. There I learned Russian language. I do not want to brag, but I have a very good language ability.
- It is known that you were born in Austria - why did not you choose, for example, Austrian citizenship?
- In Austria, in order to obtain citizenship, it is necessary to observe certain conditions. One of them is to live some time in this country. Since my father was playing in Croatia at the time, I had to follow the head of the family.
- Champions League matches are coming. What do you think about it?
- It will definitely be difficult to play against the clubs - the champions of their countries. I would not look forward to the second round. It is necessary to prepare seriously and think about the Georgian team. In my opinion, this is the right and professional approach.
- In your opinion, what is the point of football?
- I think it is to become a champion, in whatever league you may participate.
- Our team has many Croats, both among the players and the coaching staff. In your opinion this is a positive aspect?
- It does not give any great advantage. On the one hand, there are fewer language barriers, and relations in the team are established more quickly. On the other hand, the head coach, when he knows you well, will certainly demand a efficiency from you, by more than 100%. And if you do not justify his priorities - the competition in the team will do its job.
- You played in Scotland, what do you remember from this period in your career?
- Stunning support of supporters at the stadium. Unique traditions that give local football an unforgettable flavor.
- In Moldova, not so go to football. What do you think stadium attendance depends on?
- In Britain, this is, first of all, a tradition that exists for more than one century. Children are brought up in this spirit, then continue to raise their children in the same way. In other countries, not so, and as I understand it, in Moldova, too. It remains to show a beautiful football and score more balls. Maybe this is how we will attract more supporters to our side.
