Mario Garcia: «It's an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone»
FC Sheriff newcomer, Mario Garcia, on the new place, Europe, his qualities and much more, in his first interview as a player of the club:
- Mario, welcome. How would you evaluate your transition?
-I would call it a great transfer and very important for my future career.
- New team, new squad, how was the reception?
- I was received very well, always ready to help. Everyone is very kind and welcoming. It helps.
- Uruguay is far from Tiraspol. Did you leave your family at home?
- At first I decided to move alone, then I will be accompanied by my girlfriend (we have been a couple for 5 years), who wants to learn and grow.
- What did you find in Tiraspol that you didn't have in your life before?
- If in the sense of tourism, it is very beautiful, it is Europe, new cultures and in language, in everyday life and in sports there is a lot of professionalism. More order and control over our activities.
- You played in the Libertadores Cup, now you can try your hand in the European club tournament, the same Champions League. How much can this experience help?
- Yes, I have played in that tournament. There is a feeling that it can help me to prepare for matches of this scale. I am now a more mature soccer player when it comes to making decisions and facing an intense match. This experience has helped me internalize a lot more technical and tactical concepts to make up my mind on the field of play. Also, helps me to give advice to those who haven't had the opportunity and thus be more prepared and cautious in possible situations.
- FC Sheriff, why this club?
- It is a club that competes in important tournaments. It inspires me to grow, to develop my maximum potential, to keep learning both outside and inside the sport. It is also an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and be empowered to achieve multiple goals and meet challenges, both individual and group.
- Your opinion, what are your qualities that should make a head coach release you in the starting lineup?
- First of all, I feel that I can adapt to any proposed scheme, in my position I can cooperate both in defense and offense. I feel that I have good technical qualities. I think I read the game well, I can perform standard positions, I have dynamism, attitude and constant camaraderie in every game.
- Fans, one of the important components of any team. What do you say to them at the beginning of your journey in the club?
- Thank you very much for the support and the good reception you have given me so far to keep me going, that together we will achieve great things. I will always try my best and give my best so that we all end up embracing and celebrating the achievement of the goals we have in front of us.
