Luka Pavlovich: Speed is a key factor in winning
FC Sheriff head coach Luka Pavlovich shares his feelings on a friendly against FC Iskra Rybnitsa and talks about future plans of the team in their preparations for the coming season in Division A.
It’s always tough for us to play against Rybnitsa team. But today we have won with a big score. We outvied in physical condition and that was the main reason for our victory today. In the second half, we dictated our rules and led the game with confidence till final victory. Today many players born in 2000 played and I am satisfied with their play. We must prepare these players for the Championship. Our task is to win the inside competition and qualify for UEFA Youth League.
Does this win give the team confidence boost and good mood ahead of the Championship?
Yes, certainly, every victory boosts our confidence. It is important to foster the winner spirit n the team. But losses also happen and we must learn from them and progress.
Please, comment on the only goal we conceded.
We organized an attack but suddenly we faced a counterattack. It always happens when you don’t have enough time to get back and protect all your zones.
Are you satisfied with your guys’ play?
In general, I am. But I know the guys can perform better and we need to show all their potential. When we tackle the ball, we need to speed up our attacks. Speed is a key factor in football. That’s why we need to play faster as it is a key thing in winning over our rivals.
The reserves had enough friendlies. What is the aim of those games?
Our key target is to prepare the team in a physical sense. Then we will work on techniques and tactics of the game. We also need to get balanced mentally. Our training goes as planned and I think by the end of the Championship we will be in a good condition.
