First, I’d like to say ‘thank you’ to the host team. It was very comfortable for us to be here. We liked being in Qabala. I knew and before how the Azerbaijanian teams play. I met them in times when I was a coach of Croatian national team. We played with the national team of Azerbaijan so their style of playing was known. We had a little information about FC Qabala. But we could prepare and play a good match, however, as well as the home team. I think that the result is correct. We approach the second leg with equal chances, 50-50. We play the second leg in Tiraspol, and, I think that we will add more.
- In the first half Sheriff was stronger than the home team. In the second half your team backed down a little. What is it connected with?
- At halftime we agreed that it is necessary to sustain the first 15-20 minutes. But because of loss of concentration missed a penalty kick. Qabala recouped in 10 minutes after the beginning of the second half. It gave strength to the home team. We in return began to play on keeping the score. Perhaps we backed down physically, but it was caused by the fact that three days ago we had played a very difficult match in the Championship of Moldova.
