Luka Pavlovich: I’m satisfied with the results of the draw
FC Sheriff (Under-19) coach, Luka Pavlovich commented on results of the UEFA Youth League draw. We’d like to remind that our team will play with the Azerbaijanian FC Gabala:
-Luka, did you have any preferences before the draw?
-I didn’t. But I’m satisfied with the results of the draw. The rival could be stronger. For example, Berlin Hertha or Greek PAOK. On the other hand, match with stronger rival allows to gain experience, in the development plan for players. I can't say that Gabala is an ordinary rival, however we have all necessary qualities to perform adequately in the first round. Now there is a pause in the Championship for 10 days. We use this time for training of the players in tactical plan. Physical condition of our players is up-to-the-mark. It is necessary to add in the psychological plan. Here we also await a hard work.
-Is Gabala a known rival to you?
-I don’t know anything about this team. But I know that in Azerbaijan football progresses and a lot of money is invested in it. Strong schools function there. Without a doubt, it won’t be easy for us. We have to analyse the rival's game thoroughly. We need to set the team so that it believes in itself and in its strong qualities.
- Will you build the game of our team taking into account the analysis of the rival or proceeding only from your philosophy?
-The analysis will just show us strengths and weaknesses of the rival. Only after analysis, we will approve the plan for the first match which will take place in Azerbaijan.
- The first leg is away. Can it give us advantage?
-It’s better for us to play the first leg away. We will be enriched with information on our rival. It is important in preparation for the home match where the winner will be defined. The main task is to achieve positive result in the away match.
-Are there any specific tasks set for the team in the Youth Champions League?
- We have important matches in the Championship of reserves and in the championship of Moldova Under-19. It is worth to remember that we need also to earn the permit to the Champions League of the next year. As for this year - the task is step-by-step. It means that we need to pass at first to the second stage of the tournament.
