Juan Ferrando: “I believe in great victories for us”
FC “Sheriff” coach Juan Ferrando shared his expectations on the matches of the Championship and Europa League matches:
It was quite a difficult game with “Zimbru” in the first round. What do you think of the upcoming game with this team?
The game will be difficult. Next games of the Championship with “Zimbru” and “Veris”are very important because they left an imprint on my heart. My wish is to win them and improve those things that we missed in the first round.

Yes, it is really a very important match but not everything depends on this game. We have four games ahead which will predetermine the destiny of the teams in the group. For me it is important that we are playing at home now because you must win home matches of the group stage. I like great challenges. Thanks to such games like with “Tottenham” the club and the players are growing. And it is also important for me to study game situations in order to help my players to realize what we plan.
You have probably been studying the rival for a long time. What can you say about the condition of “Tottenham”?
We are preparing for “Tottenham” in the same way as for other teams. We are watching the games and studying the rival. Players should be fully prepared for every match. It is, of course, a dream to play with “Tottenham” because it is a great club but that does not mean they do not have weak sides.
“Tottenham” is the representative of the English Premier League. English teams often said that their Championship is more important for them than European Cups. Do you think it is a plus for “Sheriff”?
Not a long time ago it was prestigious to play in the leading championships of Europa. But now everyone starts to understand that it is very important to play in European Cups. The coach of “Tottenham” Andre Villas-Boas is Portuguese and he understands the importance of playing in European Cups. I don’t think that “Hotspurs” will come relaxed to our game. They understand if they win they will make it easier for them in the group. All our players wish to play in this match. I hope that this game will not become the most important for “Sheriff”. I believe that we will have great victories ahead and games with popular clubs will become natural for us.
