Jeremi de Nooijer: I’m glad we have qualified for the next round of the Cup
FC Sheriff midfielder Jeremi de Nooijer comments on the results of the Orange Moldova Cup Round of 16 leg against FC Victoria:
Jeremy, what do you think about the game against FC Victoria?
We haven’t pulled out our full strength in the former game against FC Victoria. We had enough regular time to overcome the rivals easily, enough chances to end the game far earlier, but everything ended in overtime. Yes, the pitch wasn’t in the best of conditions but it’s no excuse to our lackluster game. Anyway, I’m very glad we have qualified for the next round of the Moldova Cup.
From your point of view, why has our team conceded a goal in the last minutes of the game?
I don’t know why we conceded in the end. Maybe our luck ran out and we overlooked the opponents’ forward.
Was it possible to avoid added time in the encounter with our rival?
Not only possible: we should have avoided that. We should have scored several goals and lead the game to winning. It seems we lost the right quality of the game.
What can you say about your own play?
I was able to do more. I’m glad the coach let me make an appearance. I try to do as much as possible to help the team.
Despite the victory, what play components does our team need to improve?
I think we shall show our best play all the time. We need stability and more practice in one-touch play and to adapt fast to different pitches. Every game is of important experience for further performance in different tournaments.
