Ivan Shabarov: Many Russian teams cannot compare with Sheriff in infrastructure
6 junior teams from Saint Petersburg and Moscow have their training camps at the Sports Complex Sheriff now.
FC Megasphera from Russia arrived with their two squads (players born 2004 and 2007), SCYSSOR Zenit 2004 and 2005 and FC Zenit two teams (2000 and 2001). Gazprom Academy Zenit senior coach Ivan Shabarov shared a few comments:
- Ivan Evgenievich, please tell us why you decided to have training camps in Tiraspol, in Sheriff Academy?
- After a 7-years break our management decided to have away training camps before the start of the championship. We examined a few places like Sochi, Eupatoria, Tiraspol. We chose Tiraspol because I was here at the tournament in 2007 with players born 1994. And I am fully aware of the conditions here. In my opinion, we would not find better conditions.
- Share with us your impressions from the days spent here?
- We were welcomed here very well as of the day of meeting and till today. We were provided with all things required for work. I must say that Sheriff sports complex coordinator organized our stay here in a very professional way.
- You had matches with Sheriff Academy players. How would you estimate locally trained players?
- It is clear that local academy does not have a big choice with many players like we do. Selection of players in a physical way and speed qualities is better in our country but local academy players are also well trained technically and tactically. It could be seen they understand collective defense and pressing. In sparring matches they played football, it is important because we do not always have a chance to play intelligent and technical football with teams.
- Gazprom – Zenit academy and Sheriff Academy, do you see any similarities and differences in the infrastructure and organization of football?
- To my opinion, many teams in Russia would not compare with Sheriff in infrastructure, well, it can be football school Krasnodar. There are great conditions in St. Petersburg, but the difference from our academy is that here everything is centralized and on one spot. It is an important thing when young guys have an opportunity to be trained and be in contact with the first and reserve teams of the club.
- What are the main tasks that need to be solved by your teams while in Pridnestrovie?
- The main task is to organize the team’s play in attack and defense in the scale of the whole team, and it should be done in two weeks before the championship starts.
- Do you plan to have training camps in Tiraspol in the future?
- We hope that yes, it depends on our opportunities and desire to provide us with everything needed by Sheriff management. In the future we would love to have training camps in Tiraspol with greater number of teams.
