Ivan Dyulgerov: «With fans - we are stronger»
The new goalkeeper of FC “Sheriff” - Bulgarian Ivan Dyulgerov - shared his first emotions after signing the contract, talked about his path in soccer, expectations from European cups and what it means for him to play for the national team.
- Ivan, welcome to FC Sheriff! What feelings did you experience at the moment of signing the contract?
- I am very happy to sign an agreement with FC Sheriff. I feel the emotions of a really happy person. I am ready to help the club in the fight for the championship and successful performance on the international arena.
- You said that you did not think long about the offer. Tell us how long you knew about our club and what was decisive?
- I have heard about the Tiraspol team for a long time, and when the offer came, I did not hesitate. The answer was unequivocally positive.
- You mentioned Bulgarian players who used to play for Sheriff. Who exactly influenced your decision?
- Yes, the club is well known to Bulgarian players - Georgi Georgiev, Vladislav Stoyanov, Bozhidar Mitrev, Ismail Isa. I know them well. Some of them said that Sheriff is a great opportunity to rise to a new level. These words really
- How would you characterize your style of play? What is your strong point?
- The main trait is saving goals, even if it sounds trivial. A goalkeeper should always be ready for such moments, when you need real reaction and composure. The rest - the game will show.
- Do you have idols among goalkeepers, who do you look up to?
- No, I have no idols. I don`t want to copy others - I follow myself, I try to develop in my own style.
- You went through two serious stages in Bulgarian soccer - in “Cherno More” and in CSKA Sofia. What did this experience give you?
- I spent eight years at Cherno More and it was a very important stage. The club gave me everything I needed to develop. I made my debut for the main team at the age of 17, and that means a lot. Then at CSKA Sofia I got good experience, worked with great coaches and strong players. All this helped me to grow as a footballer and as a person.
- You were called up to the Bulgarian national team. What does it mean for you to defend the colors of the national team?
- Playing for the national team is a great honor. Every match remains in my memory. To compete for a place in the squad, you have to work very hard and diligently - both in training and in the club. It is a great responsibility, but also a great pride.
- The match with Pristina is coming up soon. What is your mood before the game?
- This is a very important match - both for us and for the opponent. We need to prepare and come out to show strong soccer, to play with full commitment.
- Are you nervous before such matches?
- Of course, it's not without excitement. Before every match you worry about some little things, but when the starting whistle blows, everything goes into the background. I get involved in the game and think only about it.
- What would you like to say to the fans before this meeting?
- I want to invite everyone to the match. You are our “twelfth player”, and with your support we become stronger. We need a victory, and we will do everything to achieve it.
