Ivan Crnov: “The team is more important to me than personal ambitions”
FC Sheriff new Croatian attacking midfield player Ivan Crnov gave an interview for the official site of the club and talked about the adaptation in the new team.
Ivan, now you are FC Sheriff official player. How do you feel in the new team?
I feel great. When I came to the training session, all players supported me. Being here is wonderful and I am very happy at this fact.
Why did you decide to transfer to our club?
I transferred to FC Sheriff because it is the best club in Moldova. Moreover my ex team partner Stipe Lapic played in Moldavian championship and he told me only the best things about FC Sheriff.
What did you hear about FC Sheriff before your transfer to our club?
I know that FC Sheriff played against FK Željezničar, GNK Dinamo Zagreb, HNK Rijeka. I have heard only positive feedback about the club, stadium, sports complex.
What is your attitude to an early start of the season as it is now?
The championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina finished about ten days ago. And here the season has almost started. There are European Cups and the Super cup ahead. We should get ready for the game against FC Milsami and win the title.
Is there a Super cup match in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
We don’t have this tournament, only the championship and the cup. I don’t know why (laughing).
Playing for HSK Zrinjski you scored 19 goals. Does it mean that you are more an attacking midfield?
Yes, of course. Usually I play left or right attacking midfield. It let me score so many goals.
Are goals your main ambition? Or is it just a bonus to the team’s game?
No, it is not the main ambition. Of course, like every football player I like scoring and assisting. But the team is more important to me than personal ambitions.
How do you estimate your debut in the match against FC Saxan?
It is difficult for me to say. It was my first game and I am very glad that I could take the field. But I need some more time for adaptation to show the maximum I can.
Does it help you that there are Balkan players in the team?
Yes, I am grateful to Susic, Dupovac and Cakic who help me absolutely in everything: everyday things, learning Russian, learning the city and many other things.
There is a serious competition at your position. Are you ready to fight for your position in the main squad?
I think I will be able to play in the first eleven. There are fantastic players in FC Sheriff. And I will need about two weeks in order to completely adapt here and be a worthy competitor of my partners.
If you were not a football player, who would you become?
If I were not involved into football, I would perhaps be an architect. I am interested about different kinds of buildings.
What would you wish to our supporters?
I want to say to fans to support our team in good and bad times. We will try to show only good game. Support of fans is very important to us.
