Bohemians 1905 is a Prague-based football club, which was originally founded more than 100 years ago. It is one of the most popular Czech clubs. In 2005 the club went bankrupt as a result of poor managing but it was saved by supporters who collected money for partial payment of the club’s debts. Bohemians' mascot is a kangaroo, the legacy of a 1927 tour of Australia.
In 1993 FC Bohemians was became a separate legal entity. During the following 12 years the team had 8 owners, some of them owned the club for a few times. The club functioned normally until financial troubles came up and the club nearly collapsed in 2005, the club was eliminated from the First Czech League tournament.
In February 2005 there was established a partnership of Bohemians supporters (Družstvo fanoušků Bohemians). Cap money was organized for the club’s recovery. Minimal fee was 1000 korunas (about 1200 rubles). TJ were able to pour money into the small club and help them rise to the first division. However, fans remained loyal to the Bohemians 1905 team, and helped the large club to recover.
The club finished third in the 2005–06 Bohemian Football League, missing out on promotion,but advanced to the Second League regardless, as they bought a license to play in the Second League from SC Xaverov. The club was then able to advance back to the top flight in 2007, where they played until relegation in 2012. After only one season in 2. Liga Bohemians returned to the First League in 2013.
European Cups:
Champions Cup participant in the season 1983/84, 8-fold participant of UEFA Cup draw. The best achievement – 1982–83 UEFA Cup participamt, reaching the semi-finals before losing to eventual champions, R.S.C. Anderlecht.
