In the winter of 2003, FC Sheriff went to Moscow to take part in the second draw of the Champions Cup of the Commonwealth countries. At the helm of the team was a Romanian specialist Gabi Balint.

 

The task for the tournament was one - to win it. And the team coped with this. In the semifinals, the main favorite was beaten - the Moscow Lokomotiv. In the final match FC Sheriff opposed the Latvian Skonto, an old-timer of the competition, who played the second final in its history. Crazy goal of Christian Tudor in the first minute and the final point on the 90th by Ivan Testimitanu.
