HNK Rijeka – FC Sheriff
FC Sheriff conceded to HNK Rijeka by minimal score keeping good chances for entering UEFA Europa League group stage.
The match took place at the Stadium Kantrida with full stands who actively supported their team. HNK Rijeka was first to create a dangerous moment. Iosip Brezovec send a direct shot from the penalty area but Matias Degra made a save.in a few minutes Brezovec made another shot and Degra made a fantastic save making it a corner. FC Sheriff responded in an attack and scored a goal but Belgian referees cancelled the goal seeing it as an offside when Benjamin Balima turned home. FC Sheriff former team captain Miral Samardzic who plays in HNK Rijeka now was about to kill the ball in his own goal after the shot by Kadu on 22nd minute. One minute before the end of the first half Balima performed a header in the far corner but the shot was not precise.
In the second half it became less dangerous on the pitch since FC Sheriff played more in the defense and HNK Rijeka could not break FC Sheriff back. Andrei Kramaric had a great chance to score but his shot was not precise. On 85th minute the ball rebounded from Metoua’s foot to Marin Leovats who in his turn scored a goal to FC Sheriff. The “yellow-blacks” lost by the score 1:0.
Second leg match in Tiraspol is going to be very interesting. Despite the loss, FC Sheriff has good chances to winning.
