Goran Sablic: I'm sure that FC Sheriff can pick up the pace
FC Sheriff head coach Goran Sablic answered the journalist’s questions before tomorrow's match of the play-off round with FC Qarabag:
-Good evening. We have the second leg tomorrow. The result which we made in the first game gives us chance to pass further, to the group of the Europa League. It is clear, that it will be very difficult. We understand that Qarabag is a strong team, besides it plays home. They possess the ball and constantly presse on the rival. On the other hand, I think, and I’m sure that FC Sheriff can pick up the pace, and will look better, than in the first game. I’m sure that the team will be in better physical state, than in the first game. We have analysed the rival. We hope to use the chances and moments which we will create.
- In an interview to the press, Denis Kalinkov who played in Azerbaijan, said that the coaching staff of Sheriff can’t imagine what they should expect from the second leg. Whether you know what atmosphere reigns at the stadium and what awaits you tomorrow?
- Of course, we know. We know that the stadium will be full, we know that fans support well the team. But, I don't think that it will play a big role in tomorrow's match. As well as Qarabag, FC Sheriff got used to play in such atmosphere and with such supporters. The most important for us is to implement what was agreed with players. I repeat once again, we have good chances and we are sure of our qualities. We know what it will be difficult. We are sure that we will have the moment. Tomorrow it will be interesting.
- In last round Qarabag played with BATE which played both matches in defense. What football will Sheriff play tomorrow? In defense or will attack more?
- You know, we’ll play with the team which played last year in the Champions League where performed very brightly. They showed the level of football which is close to the European. We play with the team with which we can't reveal completely. And Qarabag can make us play more in defense. We will try to play in intervals. If we have an advantage and it will be necessary to attack, we will attack. If it is necessary to defend, we will do it. There is no plan to stand only in defense. We will try to use our qualities. Each team has its own strengths and weaknesses. We analysed well playing of Qarabag. We will see everything tomorrow, to what extent we will be able to show everything that we have prepared.
-Last year the head coach of FC Sheriff was Roberto Bordin who trains now FC Neftci. In the last round they played with FC Qarabag. Did you meet with him and ask how to play with Qarabag?
- I didn't contact. It wasn't necessary for us. We watched the game. It was enough. The philosophy of Qarabag playing is clear. Their coach works for a long time there who clearly lets understand how the team must play. In spite of the fact that the squad changed, the hand of the coach is clearly visible. Therefore, we watched the match with Neftci. We saw all aspects of their playing, and we will try to use defects in their playing.
-Qarabag has some problems with the squad. At the same time Emeghara steps back into the ranks. How will it affect FC Sheriff playing?
-We analysed the playing of Emeghara well. He has other qualities, than ones the player who played in the first match has. Anyway, it is necessary to pay attention to him. He is high-speed, goes down between lines. He opens well at the flank attacks. We analysed his playing well. But, I don't think that tomorrow the issue of passing to the group stage will be resolved by one player. The rival has several more good players. We need to show our playing and to try to show our best football. We have a good chance. It is additional motivation for us.
-Did you speak to your club management about the team who plays in the Europe League play-off round fly to Baku by regular flight and doesn’t fly in a chartered plane?
- I will begin with the fact that this question concerns only us and isn't subject to discussion. Then, you don't know, but we flew to Iceland by a premium class charter plane, but played a very difficult match. FC Shkendija flew to Moldova by scheduled flight and passed further. Actualy,we fly by charter planes for all matches. This time in another way and it doesn't play any role.
- If you don't pass Qarabag will it affect your future in the club?
- It won't affect in any way. Now nobody thinks about it. We have a chance and we will make everything to pass further. If we don't pass, then we will work further, to improve our playing. Now it is difficult to speak about something. We prepare for tomorrow's match. We will think about everything else on Friday.
