After a 1-0 victory over Czech team FC Zlin, FC Sheriff midfielder Gheorghe Anton talks about the match, future in the Europa League and upcoming game in the Championship:
Gheorghe, could you comment on matchday 5 of the Europa League game against FC Zlin?
It was a hard battle, we felt pressure, everyone understood the importance of the game and that we needed to earn three point. In addition, we knew the result of the game between Lokomotiv and København. It gave our team additional psychological impulse. Overall, considering the result, the game was a success. We scored one goal despite of many opportunities we had and didn’t let our opponent to show themselves.
Your opinion regarding the situation in the table among our four teams?
At the moment we are the leaders but nothing is still clear. We are looking forward for the decisive game against København. It’s all in our hands. We must go onto the field and show our football.
Your predictions regarding the other two teams that will play at the same time with us.
It’s difficult to say who is sronger. Lokomotiv is a serious and experienced rival, they arethe favourites. But Zlin can prepare a surprise as they will play at home. We shouldn’t count on the Czech team as the draw will be an advantage for us. We should go for our result and move on.
From your point of view, what components shall our team improve to ensure advance from the Europa League group stage?
There is always something to work on. No matter what stage of the tournament it is, you need to improve your personal and team skills. The coaching staff analyses our play and then show us its strongest and weakest points.
On Sunday there is a final game in the National Division against FC Speranta. Are you strong enough?
Yes, we are. We have two days to prepare for the game. We got used to such an intensive schedule and our physical condition is fine.
What can you say about the change in the Moldovan Championship’s system to play spring-autumn season?
I feel okay about this change as the condition of many fields is not very good. Also in Euro Cups I’m waiting for better performance from the Moldavian clubs as in this period our championship will be in full blast.
Which game of this season is more important in the Championship and Euro Cups?
In the Championship the most important was the fight with Milsami Orhei. And the crucial game in the Europa League comes on 7 December in Copenhagen.
