First international triumph
In the winter of 2003, FC Sheriff went to Moscow to take part in the second Commonwealth Champions Cup. At the helm of the team was the Romanian specialist Gaby Balint.
The task for the tournament was one - to win it. And the team did it. In the semi-finals, the main favorite, Lokomotiv Moscow, was beaten. In the final match FC Sheriff was opposed by the Latvian Skonto, an old-timer of the competition, which played the second final in its history. Crazy goal by Christian Tudor in the first minute and the final point in the 90th from Ivan Testimitanu.
