Djibril Paye: “The spirits in the team are high”
Right before the match with “Rapid” the defender of the team Djibril Paye talked to the official site of FC “Sheriff”:
Djibril, “Sheriff” is playing with “Rapid” in a few days in the championship. How is the team preparing for the game?
We are preparing in our usual way. We don’t have it in our team that we are preparing better for matches against a strong team or are not preparing at all for matches against weaker rivals. All rivals are equal to us, we are preparing to all games with the same responsibility. I would even say that we are preparing more seriously to the matches of the championship because we are taking part in Europa League. The supporters are expecting a lot from us, that is why we need to work for 200%. Everyone wants us to win and we will try to get three points.
How are the spirits in the team after Europa League matches?
The spirits in the team are high. After the match with “Tottenham” we were afraid that everyone would not be satisfied with us. But then later our coach said thank you to us for the good game and we received positive comments from our supporters. It cheered us up and made us more confident. Right after the match my father called me and said that whole Guinea watched this match, all my relatives watched the game of “Sheriff”. My father said he is very proud of me. I have sparkling eyes, I live football. My whole family is proud of me. What spirits should we have in the team after that?!
The game with “Tottenham” was discussed by almost everyone but still. What did you miss in the game with the “Spurs”?
We had moments but we could not convert them. You cannot blame only front men in that. It is a mistake of the whole team. We probably did not have enough luck.
How do you see the match with “Tottenham” in London?
As for the pressure, we will play the way we did. As for tactics, our coach will decide. Since it is an away match, it will be difficult. It is their land, their field, so we should be more attentive.
Let’s get back to the championship. “Sheriff” takes the lead in the standings, especially after outplaying “Veris” in the last game which takes the second place. Do you and other members of the team feel tired since “Sheriff” plays on two fronts which can be used by the rivals in the championship of Moldova?
Yes, we do feel a little bit tired. But it is our job. We chose this profession ourselves. We have important matches both in the championship and in Europa League. We know we need to win. We must not lose heart, we should fight for victory till the end.
