David Mujiri: I warmly congratulate Sheriff on the next champion's title
David Mujiri is the Georgian football player who forever remained in memory of supporters of the yellow-black as the author of the first scored goal of our club in Euro cups.As a part of FC Sheriff David won a champion title of Moldova, won the Cup of Moldova and a title of the top scorer of the 2000/2001 season. Today David Davidovich is the general secretary of the Georgian football federation and has visited the city of Tiraspol with a working visit and its hotly favorite team. About his football career, about affairs in the Georgian football and about a congratulation of club on the next champion title of Moldova in the interview of David Mujiri.
- David Davidovich, we are glad to welcome you in FC Sheriff again! With what feelings and emotions do you come to our city?
- You know - my foreign career of the player began in FC Sheriff. Two years spent here played an important role both for the club, and in all my football life. I was very glad to put all efforts in success of the team which for the first time achieved the champion title of its country. I’ll, of course, never forget the scored goal in Euro cups, namely to the goal of Czech Sigma. It was the first scored goal of the Tiraspol team on the international scene. Unfortunately, then we couldn’t pass Czech team on the sum of two matches, but history showed that the club achieved good results since then, and I am immensely glad to all last, present and future victories of the "yellow-black". I warmly congratulate the whole club on the next champion's title and I wish to achieve further all goals in the Championship of Moldova and in Euro cups. I’d like to wish to the club and its owner the highest achievements in football.
- It is well-known that you are the general secretary of the Georgian football federation. The national team of Georgia, having shown tremendous results in the group stage of the UEFA League of Nations, has already qualified to the group C…
-We’d like to achieve progress already as the football functionary, and I believe that we’ll manage to do this. My friends and colleagues in Football federation of Georgia we do everything possible that the dream of all Georgian admirers of football– a performance of the national team in the final stage of the European championship come true. The first steps are taken, and I hope that our football players will believe in their forces and will write a new page in the history of the Georgian football.
- You were born in football family, your father played this wonderful game and now your son also plays it. What is your family football motto?
- Yes we love this game and we live it. I would even tell, we have a football at the gene level. I didn’t hardly meet career of my father as he stopped playing early, I was then, if I am not mistaken, seven years old. What you won't tell about my son who more or less realized, looking at me how hard work is. Despite this, he took on this profession and I, of course, wish him good luck and further success.
- How did your father affect your football career?
-Well, first of all, it is necessary support and, of course, criticism. He belonged to the players of "gold generation" of the Georgian football. In 1981 they won the Cup of owners of the UEFA Cups. One of the highest success not only of Georgian football, but also of all Soviet. In those days only two clubs of the Soviet Union - Kiev and Tbilisi Dinamo could make it. What father doesn't want that his son achieved the best? Therefore I am very grateful to him. His critic concerning me very much helped me.
- It is clear, that now you less time because of work in the Federation of Georgia. And still, do you watch progress of the Tiraspol team since then when you became the champion of Moldova?
- I always watch FC Sheriff, Tiraspol welcomed me warmly and friendly and I’ll never forget this. This year the club played with Kutaisi Torpedo. I had pleasure to watch both matches in the Champions League. Unfortunately, this year we couldn’t break through to the group stage, but I am sure that such football holiday will come for all Moldavian football. Everything that was built here and was invested, it seems for me the football fairy tale. All management led by Victor Gushan created this therefore I thanked in the past and now I will tell thanks to the president of the club for his immense contribution to development of football in the country. I wish all planned aims and tasks of the club management came true.
- And finally what would you like to tell to supporters and admirers of the "yellow-black" family?
- I thank all fans for their support. You are necessary to the team, thanks to you Sheriff reaches high achievements. Believe me that thanks to you the team becomes stronger every day.
