FC Sheriff's Brazilian defender Cristiano Da Silva shared his opinion about the previous match in the National Division and upcoming game in the Europa League.
Cristiano, what can you say about the victory over FC Petrocub?
On the whole, the game against FC Petrocub was not easy. There are lots of young players in the team who are eager to showcase their potential. We tried to follow the coach’s tactics and to achieve good results, and we did it. Winning in the previous stage is of a double significance. First, our club managed to keep the difference from the closest pursuers in the Championship table. Second, no less important, - it was crucial for our team to gain a victory so that to approach the match against FC Lokomotiv in the optimal psychological condition.
It is the first time you could excel in an official match. Could you share your feelings regarding your goal?
I was happy to score my first goal in the official match for FC Sheriff. It’s important not only to concentrate on the defense but also to help the team in getting points by goal scoring.
Overall, are your satisfied with how our team acted in defense?
As for the National Division games, we try to keep clean sheet. It adds confidence to the team during the whole Championship. In Euro cups it’s harder to defend but we confront strong rivals and that’s the only way you can grow in football.
On 19 October, we expect a tough game in the Europa League against the leader of our group FC Lokomotiv. Tell us about the team’s attitude for the game?
We all are going to show a good game. We know it won't be easy, but hope to take three points.
What do you think our team needs to progress from the Europa League group stage?
We should concentrate on the two home games left in the group. We should follow the coach’s instructions and make our fans happy. Only victory in these games may let us advance from the group.
