Cedric Badolo: "I want to strive for a higher level"
The newcomer of our team, Cedric Badolo, expressed his first thoughts after the transition. The football player from Burkina Faso spoke about himself, his adaptation, his position on the football field and his football dreams.
- Cedric, share your emotions after signing the contract with FC Sheriff.
- I am very happy to sign the agreement with the club. By nature, I am a calm and even shy person. You won't see the joy in me in my appearance. In fact, inside, in my soul, I am happy that I got this opportunity to prove myself. My family is especially happy, they are proud of me.
- Do you have a sports family?
- No, I'm the only sportsman in my family. The elder brother started his football career, but eventually chose to study.
- Why is Sheriff the club you have chosen?
- I analyzed the offer from my agent. The club definitely suits me. Sheriff plays in a lot of tournaments, unlike my last team from the Slovak Championship. I want to aim for a higher level.
- How is the adaptation going?
- In general, everything is going well. There are a lot of Africans in the club, which helps a lot. There is Benjamin Balima, our “elder brother”, thanks to him we quickly get used to the conditions of life and to the team. Plus, I know Edmund Addo, we crossed paths in Slovakia. The first training sessions have already taken place, everything is professional in this regard. This is just the beginning of my work, I have to prepare well for the upcoming season.
- Judging by your performances, you are able to play in several positions. Are you striving to be a versatile player?
- It is not difficult for me to adapt to any position. Speaking of preferences, I like to play on the left side of the attack.
- In other words, are you more of a forward?
- It all depends on the coach and his attitude. In Morocco I played in midfield, in Burkina Faso I even played in defense - for example, in the final of the country's cup, when Salitas took the trophy. In Slovakia, the first year I played in midfield, and in the second I was put on the attack.
- What do you remember about your career in Slovakia?
- When I arrived in Pohronie, the club had just entered the Fortuna League - this is the top division. This is a small club, but I felt very comfortable there, there is a wonderful microclimate. I tried to make them proud of me, my game. I think I made it.
- What is your football dream?
- My dream is to play for Burkina Faso, win the Africa Cup of Nations and qualify for the World Cup.
- You are currently a player of FC Sheriff. Will it help your dreams come true?
- Undoubtedly. Show a player who does not dream of playing in the Champions League and Europa League. Let it sound loud, but you need to strive to play in the finals of these tournaments. Not everything is given at once, but step by step we can and must promote our football dream.
