Artur Serobyan: «You have to sacrifice something to succeed»
Artur Serobyan, a talented 21-year-old winger from Armenia, known for his speedy spurts and technical play, became a player of FC Sheriff. Having signed a contract with our club, Artur is ready for new challenges. In his first interview for the press service of the club he told about the importance of joining the team, highlights of his career, and what role his family plays for him.
- Artur, you have already signed a contract with FC Sheriff. What does this transition mean to you?
- Thank you, I am very happy to sign an agreement with such a big and important club in Moldova. I am happy to be here, to train and to play.
- How were the negotiations and why did you choose to move to Tiraspol?
- “Sheriff” is known abroad, so I really want to try to distinguish myself here. The club was interested in me, and I finally decided to sign a contract. The negotiations went well: we discussed all the issues with the director of the club and the coach of the team.
- What tasks do you set for yourself already here in Tiraspol?
- I will say briefly and most importantly: I want to help the team - to score goals and give goal assists. This is an important contribution to winning trophies.
- You have already met the team and the coaching staff. What are your first impressions?
- The first impressions are good and kind. We work hard, we get along and find a common language in this process.
- The first control sparring with “Milsami”. How did you evaluate yourself in the game?
- This is my first game in the shirt of “Sheriff”, I am very happy about this event. The team showed a great result, and I managed to score a goal and give 2 goal assists. I hope to continue in the same spirit.
- You started your way in FC “Ararat”. What are the main lessons you learned from this period?
- I learned a lot there. I started playing at the age of 17 and, let's say, improved my soccer skills. I managed to work well with a strong Spanish coach - David Campagna.
- How did you manage to adapt at Casa Pia FC in Portugal? What new things did you learn playing abroad?
- In Portugal I got a good experience, and not only in the game. I grew mentally as far as soccer and everything that surrounds it is concerned. It was an invaluable experience. Plus I managed to feel the atmosphere of matches against such teams as Porto and Benfica. These are, of course, unforgettable games.
- Making your debut for the Armenian national team at the age of 19 is a great achievement. How do you remember your first match against Montenegro?
- I can't describe in words how important that day was for me. It was one of the best days in my soccer life. I am very happy and proud to represent my country.
- How do you evaluate your experience in the national team - 18 matches and 3 goal assists? What other highlights were there?
- It is very important for me to play for the national team. There is still a lot of work ahead. I started quite early to play at this level, and it's very cool. Among the highlights I especially remember the victory over Wales in Cardiff - 4:2. Such moments remain in my memory forever.
- At the age of 21 you have already achieved certain results. What goals do you set for yourself in the coming years?
- Now my goals are connected with FC Sheriff. I want to score more, win, win the championship and prove myself in European cups.
- Which of your strengths will help the team in the upcoming season?
- I think it's dribbling, shots and assists.
- You play right winger. Would you like to try yourself on other positions?
- I can play on the left, as well as in the role of “ten”. I have already had such experience.
- Are there any players you look up to or whose game inspires you?
- Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players for me. I am inspired by his work on and off the soccer field. His mentality is something to be adopted.
- What role do family and loved ones play in your career?
- Family is very important to me. I play for my family because they always support me. I devote a lot of time to sport, but they understand very well: you have to sacrifice something to achieve a certain success.
- What do you do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies outside of soccer?
- Mostly I have a rest. I also enjoy playing tennis.
- What is your message to the fans who are waiting for your debut?
- I want to tell them that I am also looking forward to my debut in official matches. I really want to please them with my game and scoring goals.
