Armel Zohouri: "I love football since childhood"
After joining FC Sheriff, Ivory Coast defender Armel Zohouri shared his thoughts about himself, his career in Switzerland and our opponents in the Europa League.
- I am glad that I became a player of FC Sheriff. I thank the management for the opportunity to be part of the club. I was well received here, in general, everything is fine. The first trainings have passed, we work well and diligently. I want to quickly adapt to the team and help the team directly in the games. My goal is to help the club get as far as possible in European competition and become the first in the national championship.
- How did you get into football and why did you decide to be a defender?
- Since childhood I love football, this game is my passion. It all started with football on the streets. Then my parents sent me to the football academy of FC Racing Abidjan, where I spent all my youth. That's where I started playing professionally, in particular, we won the Ivory Coast title. I was immediately prepared for the position of defender, although there were matches when I played in different positions.
- What do you think about your career in Switzerland?
- The first season failed due to injury. In the second I have already played a lot of matches. It was important for me to get in shape and experience. All in all, it wasn't all that bad. But in terms of the entire club - the situation is not the most rosy. Lausanne were relegated to the lower division at the end of the season.
- How do you like our rivals in the UEFA Europa League?
- It's good that we ended up in a group with such rivals. Playing with strong clubs makes us stronger. Plus, this is an invaluable experience for every player. We are able to play with these teams, I trust my partners and the coach - these are important aspects of a positive result in football.
