“Anji” – “Sheriff” November 28, 2013
A very important game of the group K in which “Anji” from Makhachkala and “Sheriff” from Tiraspol met at the “Saturn” stadium in Ramenskoe.
The match took place in bad weather conditions. It was snowing right before the game which made the lawn of the “Saturn” stadium even worse than it was. More than 100 FC “Sheriff” fans came to see the game in Ramenskoe and supported the team till the last minute of the match. As for the dual meet itself, “Sheriff” was first to attack because they needed only a victory. Already on 3rd minuteKadu made a long-range shot but Mikhail Kerzhakov made a good save and transferred the ball to the corner shot. “Sheriff” players then organized another dangerous attack. Luvannor Henrique made a low cross towards Ismail Isa, however “Anji” player Everton took the lead and cleared from the goal-line. In less than a minute “Anji” were not able to convert a great chance. Sobolev came one to one with Tomic but after Sobolev’s shot the ball missed the goalpost. After that the teams started being more careful and the ball was in the center of the field more often. On 45th minute Ricardinho disturbed the peace and came one to one with Kerzhakov. But the goalkeeper made a save.
In the second half the “yellow-blacks” increased their attack. On 53rd minute “Sheriff” opened the scoring. Right flank attack was finished by Ismail Isa who was assisted by Benjamin Balima. The ball was driven into the net of “Anji” by the hit from the crossbar. In 6 minutes “Anji” could score a goal. At first Alexander Epureanu made a strong long-range shot but Tomic was able to make a good save, then after a corner shot Epureanu sent a looping header to FC “Sheriff” goal. Our team was eager to score the second goal and had a few good chances for that. Benjamin Balima could score but the goalkeeper made a save. Paying attention to the attack “Sheriff” almost conceded a goal. Solomatin came one to one with the goalkeeper but the ball came high from the goal. On 91st minute our team lost the most real chance to take the lead. Ricardinho made a flank pass to Jhulliam who could not reach the ball.
The result of the match is 1:1. So having eight points “Anji” went out of the group to the round of 32 ahead of time. “Sheriff” lost its chance to go out of the group having only three points.
