Andrei Corneencov: The main task is the first place
Andrei Corneencov is one of players who all his conscious football life gave to FC Sheriff. At first as a player, subsequently, as a coach. In this off-season Andrei became the assistant of Shota Makharadze and together they will lead the second team to the new tops:
Formerly, I’ve trained youths in Academy therefore I’ve already engaged in working process. All coaching staff is well familiar to me. And they know me firsthand. We studied together with Shota Makharadze, we both are the licensed coaches, we have the License of the UEFA of category "PRO". We have the identical vision of football. Sometimes, however, there are disputes. But these are quite normal working moments. There is no football life in collective without them. There is no growth. And as our views of football are unified, we will try to achieve good results.
- How do you think, transition to the coaching staff of the youth team is a step backward or forward for you?
-During the stay of a player, I had in my career, so to say, steps backward. But I always perceived it philosophically: if it was necessary to take a step backward, then surely you have to make two steps forward.
- Can you say that you gained experience in the first team?
-I began to work with the first team with Roberto Bordin. Then with Victor Mikhailov and a half-season with Goran Sablic. All have different visions of football. That’s probably why I could gain useful knowledge. I won’t highlight anything special. I took aspects of a defensive game from someone, from another of attacking. In professional team a psychology and relationship in collective come to the fore. In the main squad the fulfilled players play in the majority with a ready set of qualities. It is only necessary to find approach to everyone and to use the best qualities in team interaction. Let's not forget that also legionaries play in our team. Each has its own culture and way of life. We have one task - to adapt players to our conditions taking into account their particularities.
-Are you going to develop these qualities in players of the youth team?
- We’ll discuss this moment with the head coach of the first team – Goran Sablic. It is necessary to define together focuses in training of reserves. The main task of the Academy is to prepare players for the first team. Proceeding from needs of the first squad we need to build working process.
- What priorities are there in work with the team of junior-reserves?
- This year the reserves squad will be considerably rejuvenated. Older players want to play in the National Division, try their forces at other level. We’ll form the team from three ages of graduates of the Academy: born in 1999, 2000 and 2001. There are football players who are with the first team at the training camp in Turkey. I think, they will play in both squads. Everything will depend on how they will prove themselves on the field. The priority is to prepare the youths for the forthcoming performance in the championship. It is about physical conditions, psychology and technical and tactical actions.
-Last year the youths stopped on the verge of the gold medals. Is there the task for 2019?
- The main task is the first place. FC Sheriff has no other tasks. It concerns also all ages of the Academy. As it will turn out, time will show. We, in turn, have to achieve the best results.
