Andrei Corneencov: "Today it was important for us to win this game on the field of the rival"
The coach of young men of Sheriff Academy of Football of Under-19 Andrei Corneencov after the victorious match with peers of FC Zimbru:
- All games with Zimbru are difficult, pass nervously and in uncompromising fight. Today it was not an exception. Played carefully. Standings were such that the rival needed a victory. Our task was to use space. We scored a goal in fast counterattack. Had some more opportunities for goal. Boys made a good job. Implemented the set. Gave all the best, showed the character in very difficult match. Thank them very much, and thank them for this part of the championship. It was incredibly physically difficult. Many played also for the second team. They sustained loading, played on two fronts and showed that they have a character and the future.
- What was told to the team before the match?
- The coaching staff had only one purpose – a victory. Set children only to the victory. It was important for us to win this game, on the field of the rival. With Zimbru we have already played three matches. One was lost and two drew. Without victories over the direct competitor there is no champion's title. Therefore today there was only one task - to win away and to remove all questions.
- As a coach, do you feel that the team already realized that they will play with the teams of high level?
- I think, in respect of character and experience many are ready. We have in the squad players who already have the international experience. Denis Makalich, for example, was engaged to games with elder age when played with FC Viitorul, last year played against Gabala. Other players have an experience either. I hope that it will allow us to act this year in Youth League much better.
- What would you tell the team now?
- First, many thanks to all. To boys - for the fact that maintained difficult operation schedule gave all the best and showed not only the character, but also skill. This Champion's title is of the whole collective. Special thanks to personnel, doctors, administrators, restaurant staff and to all who worked for the sake of this victory. And, of course, many thanks to the management - for trust, faith in us and the created conditions. All together we deserved this victory.
